Laboratory of acousto-optics

The laboratory of acousto-optics is one of the leading applied and fundamental divisions of the department of quantum radiophysics. The main direction of the laboratory’s scientific activity is the study of processes related to the interaction of light rays with acoustic waves. The results of the latest achievements in this field were reflected in the development and creation of new unique devices for controlling laser radiation – acousto-optic modulators and deflectors, which by their parameters are superior to foreign analogues. On the basis of these devices, new modern devices are created that help solve complex tasks in various fields of science and technology.

The list of current tasks that are being worked on in the laboratory:
- Computer engineering of laser information systems.
- Development and creation of digital devices for data processing and generation of special signals based on integrated circuits of programmable logic (PLC Altera, Xilinx).
- Development of new and improvement of existing acousto-optic devices for controlling laser radiation.
- Development of laser scanning microscopes and their application in various fields of science and technology (surface physics, semiconductor electronics, biology, medicine, etc.).
- Development of the latest methods of diagnosing subsurface defects based on total internal reflection acoustic sensors.
- Computer modeling of physical processes and phenomena using specialized software packages and programming environments (C++, LabView, Delphi/Pascal, etc.).
